Moses is given credit for leading the jews out of Egypt.
Where in the hell was the leadership?
Everything Moses did was directed by gawd.
The ten plagues were conceived of, designed and carried out by gawd.
Moses was just the messenger.
It took them 40 years to travel to Canaan, a trip which most people of the time accomplished in 10 or 11 days. Moses took forty years to "lead" the jews on that same trip. But it took 40 years because gawd was pissed about the jews pissing and moaning about it taking so long (circular I know but this is the bible) so it was gawd that was in control of their destiny, not Moses, the "leader".
Moses had no control over that journey.
Gawd defeated the "enemies" (i.e. those who happened to be living in the land that gawd promised the jews).
Without gawd's help, Moses couldn't do anything. He had uncircumcised lips you know.
1. Gawd murdered the Amlikites by proxy, allowing the jews to prevail whenever Moses held up his arms! Very cool!
2. 17:12 But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
17:13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
